5 Industrial Benefits of Using the blow mold

Many of you are already aware of the use of a blow molding machine in the production line of bottled water. But do you know what is the exact meaning of blow moulding? It is time to learn more about the process so that you can find out the myriad advantages if you want to use the same procedure in your production unit.

More about the blow mold

In the process of this type of molding, you have to form hollow plastic components through mainly three types of procedures:

  • Injection
  • Extrusion
  • Injection stretch

The making of extrusion blow mold involves melting down the plastic and rolling it off immediately after the removal from the furnace. It will form a parison. The final form will be a tube-like plastic with a hole in one end. The hole will serve as the channel for the flow of compressed air.

Materials Molded

A Variety of Thermoplastics

  • Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
  • Polyoxymethylene or Polyacetal (ACETAL)
  • Polycarbonate (PC)
  • Polycarbonate + Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (PC + ABS)
  • Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT)
  • Polyethylene (PE)
  • Polypropylene (PP)
  • Nylon
  • Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE)

Using the pressure for blow-molding

After completing the first step, you need to clamp the material into a mold. The pressure is enough to push the plastic out to match with the blow mould design. Once it cools down and hardens, the mold will open up and eject the particular part. But in the case of the procedures using injection or injection stretch, you have to use a preform. Pre form is a piece that you have to make beforehand.

1. Revolutionary technology

Indeed, the entire industrial sector underwent a complete change with the application of the revolutionary technology of blow molding. You can now meet the high demand for plastic ware of the consumers by enhancing the production procedure instead of increasing the production rate. Quick manufacturing and high-volume outputs are two major perks of the system.

2. Blow moulds aid in variable products

Presently, all the plastic containers circulating in the market for holding some form of liquid have been through the process of moulding. In fact, many blow mold manufacturers have tried and created different applications and designs that helped in the interesting uses of these molds. You can now use such flexible designs for the manufacturing fuel tank, flower pots, seat supports for the vehicles, and even the toy wheels.

3. Lower production cost

The process of molding with the extrusion blow technique demands a lower level of pressure. So the machinery costs will below. And you will find it easy to mold the external threads as well as the open-ended ones too, as you can split these by opening the closed blow mould.
